KNOX ACTION PRO GLOVES

Winter is coming and there is absolutely nothing that we can do about it. That is unless we can move to Australia for six months of the year. Unfortunately, that’s beyond the ‘financial reach’ of most of us. What we can do, however, is dress for the occasion by staying warm and waterproof. That’s where Knox come in.

For a number of years now the company have been producing a range called ‘Action Pro’. The collection includes trousers, independent knee and elbow armour, a jacket and even shorts. The shorts, I reckon, need a certain ‘body type’ to be carried off with any sort of dignity, but they do look very good and are as effective as anything else in the range. Now there are a new pair of gloves in the ‘Action Pro’ collection and they’re waterproof. They also appear to be vegan.

They’re also very ‘urban’ with a short cuff and they’re stretchy which feels so incredibly comfortable and, therefore, are easy to wear. This is, for the most part down to it being a complete fabric affair with no leather whatsoever being involved in the construction.
While the gloves are light and easy to wear, they still manage to keep the water out since they’re benefitting from an inner HDry lining. This bit of cleverness allows the waterproof membrane to be laminated to the inside of the glove. This, in turn, means that the glove doesn’t ‘hold’ any water in the outside fabric. It, therefore, allows them to dry out in no time at all, while the wearers hands stay warmer for longer thanks to less of that pesky liquid sunshine sitting in the fabric and chilling ones’ fingertips.

Being made from DuPonts’ Sorona Agile fabric is where that stretch and fit come from. The afore mentioned vegans are kept happy, or as happy as a vegan can be, since it’s an eco-efficient fibre and partially made with plant-based polymers.

As we would expect from any Knox glove, the knuckles are fitted with the companies’ micro lock armour. On these ones an effort has been made to make the protection somewhat less noticeable while both it and the, highly effective, Scaphoid Protection System (SPS) are made with a lower than usual profile. The SPS sits on the palm where it successfully eliminates the ‘grab effect’ which will probably occur if a gloved palm makes contact with the road at any kind of speed. Successfully defending the hand from wrist compression it does an excellent job of eliminating the unfortunate wrist hyperextension which results in a deeply unpleasant broken scaphoid.

Both continue to do an excellent job of protecting the wearers hands and thanks to having Velcro closers even our social media manager could get them on and off without needing any help or an outside intervention.
The simple, yet necessary stuff such as an overlay of silicone printed Clarino has been added. This gives the rider a reassuring amount of extra grip on the controls.
The reflective details are a nice touch and speaking of touch they’re even touch screen enabled, but please don’t touch your phone to post images to your insta account while stopped at a set of traffic lights. People might think that you’re ‘touched’. If that’s the case you’re much more likely to be told to ‘touch on’ rather than actually being touched in any sort of pleasant manner. So as with most things in life, don’t touch it until it’s safe to do so.
Knox Action Pro gloves are CE approved to EN 13594 and are available in any colour you can imagine, as long as your imagination is limited to black and available in sizes all the way from wonderfully tiny small to traffic cop triple extra-large.See MotoKingdom for these and the rest of the range.
