Yamaha D'light scooter

Commuting, just with much more style

Making commuting a delight!

Urban commuters keep coming on in leaps and bounds. The 125 class and lower has always been somewhat of a 'poor relation' when it comes to technology and design.

Not anymore.

Everyone has upped their game. Honda have their Forza, Shad and PCX while Suzuki have the Address, Avensis and Burgman. Yamaha have a range as well with the XMax, Tricity, NMax and the D’elight all available from dealers now.

All of these machines are about one thing; commuting efficiency. Several have taken what’s so good about their bigger capacity siblings, their specification, technology, handling as well as styling, and made it part of how these smaller scooters look and perform.

One of these machines is the D’elight from Yamaha.

Detailing is exceptional

Being powered by the companies new 125cc Blue Core engine means that it’s easy on fuel as well as producing all of its torque at lower revs. Thanks to this it excels in getting away from the lights and in front of the traffic with ease. It also has the companies stop start technology. Hold the break at a full stop and the engine switches off, simply twist the throttle and off you go again. There’s no delay, no lag and no need to do as much as hit the starter button.

Helping with that acceleration is the fact that it weighs a featherweight 100 kilos with a full tank of fuel. This makes it the lightest in it’s class, beating all of the competition. It also makes it easier to handle, easier to cut through traffic on and easier to park, particularily in tighter spots. There’s a 10” tyre on the rear with a 12” on the front. Since both are on lightweight alloy wheels they handle better than traditional ones as well as contributing to that ride enhancing weight saving.

These savings continue with LED lighting, an LCD display rather than traditional clocks.

An LCD screen displays all the data.

Styling wise, it has real good looks. On th e front the indicators are integrated into the round headlight, the bodywork is slick With its sleek body design the stylish D’elight looks great wherever you go. The cowl is lighter than pervious scooters and once again it saves on weight as well as looking the part.

While underseat storage is a standard on all scooters, the D’elight is the only 125 that can fit a full face helmet. Optional additional storage is available via a top box from the official Yamaha accessory range. These come with a lock that can be matched to the ignition key and they can even come with a panel on the lid to match the colour of the bike.

The D’light is available from www.danfay.ie as well as dealers across the country. At the moment the D’elight has been reduced from €3,499 all the way back to €3,099. That’s a saving of over 10%!
