Following hot on the heels of the launch of the Tracer 900 GT+Y-AMT, the company have announced a revised Tracer 700 that will be available in both standard and GT versions.

The Tracer range has grown into being a mature and well proven sub brand within the Yamaha range. This will be the third iteration to be made since the first one came to market way back in 2014. While the 900 is still propelled by a triple cylinder engine, the 700 is, and has always featured a CP2 parallel twin.

Because the 700 is so light and easy to cut through traffic on, its touring capabilities are more than complimented by its’ dynamics when it comes to powering through the daily commute. That engine makes 74 bhp, or 48 in the lower powered version, but more importantly, it makes 67Nm of torque. In a bike that weighs in at 197kilos with a full tank these are numbers confirm its ‘ride-ability’ in the real world.  But it is the bikes touring capability that makes it stand out.

The GT version is the one to have. While it’s the same weight and power as the standard bike it comes perfectly specced for touring. The extra bits include cruise control, a more comfortable seat, heated grips, a pair of panniers and a taller than standard screen. Theres also a chipped throttle control system. This last one allows the rider to tune or tailor the bikes traction control and throttle response.

All of this sits in a revised, not new, chassis that features a swingarm that’s longer than the pervious model by a healthy 40mm. There’s a remote preload adjuster for the rear so that the bike can be adjusted for full luggage and /or a pillion passenger. This is complemented USD forks on the front end.

Light weight electrics include LED lights as well as a TFT screen which facilitates navigation, music and call screening via a Bluetooth connection to the riders phone.

The new Tracer 900 will run you €12,999 and will be available from the end of July. This will allow you to run it in and get the 1,000 Km service done in plenty of time for the guided tour of the North West in September…
