From the Wicklow mountains, to the Irish sea, if you love nothing more than a bit of freedom on your motorcycle then the Tracer 9GT deserves your attention. It’s a fan favourite for a reason, and I had the opportunity to find out exactly why on a recent demo ride.
Yamaha’s latest version of its market leading sport-tourer brings a refined mix of power, comfort and high-tech capability. It’s perfectly suited for unique Irish roads, or for travelling further afield. Its well balanced triple cylinder engine gives you confidence when riding at a slow pace to enjoy the incredible countryside views, and delivers smooth power when you want to open the throttle and up the pace on the twisties.

For 2025 the Yamaha Tracer 9GT has a series of upgrades. They focus on rider confidence and touring comfort. A redesigned aluminium subframe makes it longer and lighter to offer more space for pillion and luggage, and a new swingarm improves stability. This makes it ideal for those fast sections of road when you really want to stretch out the power of the machine.
A new set of adaptive Matrix LED headlights make a huge improvement to visibility on the Tracer 9GT. Love or hate the look of them, you can’t see them when you’re on the bike, but what you can see, is miles of road in front of you. The improved lights are especially useful when leaning into corners, particularly at dusk or for early morning commutes.
Inside the cockpit, Yamaha has made connectivity and usability a priority. All 2025 models come with a new 7-inch full-colour TFT display with three layout options. It’s controlled via updated joystick-style switchgear, while a USB‑C port and integrated phone storage make it easier than ever to charge devices on the move. Whether you’re using turn-by-turn navigation or tracking your route through the Midlands, it’s a seamless system.
One thing I really loved about this bike was the electronically controlled windscreen. It might seem like a minor feature, but when going from rural roads to motorways it was a seamless transition. No more getting buffeted by the wind needlessly, it adds that extra layer of comfort. This paired with Yamahas cruise control feature really allowed me to just enjoy the ride.
All in all, the 2025 Yamaha Tracer 9GT is one of the most well balanced and comfortable bikes on the market. I took it up to Powerscourt and all the way down to Skerries Harbour in an evening and enjoyed every minute of the spin. This bike gives you the comfort to explore every corner of Ireland, what’s not to love.
They’re available from Yamaha dealers nationwide starting at €16,899, or €17,899 if you want to upgrade to the Y-AMT model.
