The first place that this maintaining this standard starts is not the workshop or the sale or the warranty. It’s at the point when the dealership purchase or that a bike in as a part exchange on a new bike. Rather than Mo assessing the bike on his own Greg and the team do a thorough run through on the bike in the showroom. Service histories are checked, as are the small marks that could reveal a bigger problem lurking behind the dent. Cold starts and hot starts are checked, even the age of the tyres is confirmed. Only when all of this is done can the team confirm that the bike is good enough to be prepped for sale.

Each bike gets a full service. Everything is checked, brakes, tyres, clutch, the engine oil is replaced as a matter of course. The team make sure that the battery is throwing the starter motor with ease and the exhaust isn’t leaking. This last one causes loss of power and increased fuel consumption.

Checking the electrics seems obvious in terms of bulbs and such, but the workshop crew will confirm that the ABS and traction control systems are also good to go.

Factory approved and warrrantied machines

Accessories and custom parts are a big part of making Harley-Davidson bikes stand out from the rest and are, indeed, what makes them all individual. Anything that is an aftermarket piece is checked to make sure that it’s the correct part for the bike in question and it’s fitted correctly.

Everything down to the bulbs is checked and rechecked

Checking the tyres allows the technicians the opportunity to appraise the condition of everything that relates to the wheels. The hubs and teir condition regarding damage or corrosion as well as the tension in the spokes and, of course, the brake pads and calipers.

Only when it's fully prepped is it ready to go

The bikes final drive is also checked with belts being replaced if there is any sign of undue wear while chains are adjusted properly and lubed.

But it’s not just confirming the 100 plus points of inspection before the bike goes out to its new owner, on the road means on the road, and as riders of bikes themselves the team ensure that each bike comes with a full tank of fuel and has a current tax disc.
