The party of the year

A huge event
We do like a good bike rally and the one hosted in the Bavarian Alps by BMW is one of the best. Last year the company moved the event to the factory in Berlin. This was to celebrate their 100th year of making motorcycles. This year the event is returning to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Not just new bikes
Fans of the brand, their bikes and even those who don’t partake of the German companies offerings will find quite the party occurs here each year. With the new R1300GS being delivered this year, the company have a lot to celebrate!

Ready to get dirty
I’ve been there a number of times over the years and I’m always amazed at the sheer size of the party. There are new bikes to test ride, off road demonstrations and training, the parties are epic. For me, though, it’s the roads. They’re simply fantastic. The event is staged with Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a base from which to ride out on some of the best routes that the Alps have to offer.

So much to see
As well as the parties and the roads there’s a whole load of vendors, food, bike kit and parts, and a huge vintage scene. All of this is being staged from the 5th to the 7th of July this year.

Hiking isn't compulsory
To suggest that the local peak that ‘Garmisch’ is staged at the foot of is called ‘Wank would be to let the cat out of the bag!
