Knox Handroid

The latest version of the award winning Knox Handroid glove is the mark five. Because of its design these are, to my mind, the most striking motorcycle gloves ever made. Just some of the design includes features is the scaphoid protection system. This is the one that saved mine in a highside. Then there’s the eye catching exo skeleton finger spines. These cover the tops of the fingers and provide impact protection. Then there’s their unique closing system. This one always ensures a perfect fit.

The Black ones are the last thing you see before Darth Vader Punches You in the Face

Now the latest Handroid has taken all of these features and refined them. Those finger spines are now softer and of a lower, more aerodynamic profile, to keep my soft, delicate hands exactly that way. Yet they are no less effective when it comes to protecting the wearers hands in the event of their enthusiasm being overcome by their lack of talent.

The body of the glove is made from drum dyed Korean leather. This has been chosen for its feel, light weight and strength. Complimenting this is 0.8mm kangaroo hide which is used on the palm. While this hide is exceptional it’s still responsibly and ethically sourced.

The Unique BOA Protection System

A new SPS impact system is the most recent development of the Knox patented Scaphoid protection system. This now has Micro-Lock armour incorporated into the design of each slider. Box construction of the fingers makes for an even more comfortable glove that fits better than previous models.

Separate tests were conducted for design and construction as well as tests on the materials used. This included checking features as detailed as the pH value of the leather as well as its chromium V1 content. In addition to the sizing dexterity the cadmium content and even the water vapour transmission were also measured. Strength tests included the Handroids’ restraint tear strength, the seam strength, cut resistance, abrasion resistance and, of course the impact resistance and the size of the protective area. The Handroid passes all with flying colours.

As a result the gold standard CE testing for the Handroid covers no fewer than15 different tests. As a result of these independent testers have given the gloves a CE EN 13594- 2015 rating. This covers the materials used, the fit, the cut, its abrasion resistance, the all-important seam and tear strength as well as its impact absorption.

A Host of Protection with a choice of colours

The Handroid is available in two models, the ‘Full Cuff’ and the ‘Pod’. They’re available in four different colours; black, black with white, red or blue. The range of sizes runs from extra-small to triple extra-large. For the 2024 season they are touch screen enabled. Micro-lock armour is also used on the knuckles. The Boa fit system now comes with a lifetime guarantee and they’re available from www.planet-knox.com
