The Lindstrands MYRVIK
A multifunctional adventure style jacket
As I write this this mornings weather has gone from a sunniness that could easily be associated with the south of Spain to a bit overcast all the way to torrential rain. Indeed the last one came down so hard that it would ‘strip the credit right off your phone’. As motorcyclists our dilemma has always been one of “Whatever should I wear?” Lindstrands may well have answered that question.
The new Myrvik jacket is a very clever piece of all weather technology wrapped up in a comfortable and easy to wear piece of well designed kit. This is an adventure style jacket, which will work riding across the Andes as well as it will riding on a daily commute. For those of you who don’t reckon that the latter is much of an adventure, you’ve obviously never tried to commute on a rainy Monday morning between the hours of seven and ten am!
The neck protector adds a very nice touch to the jacket
The jacket is easy to wear and incredibly practical. The technology that goes into it is really quite impressive. Starting out with a tough outer fabric that is made from super strong 600D high tenacity PE weave. In plainer English that means that it’s really hard to rip.
The worst of the weather is kept at bay with a Dryway membrane. This is highly effective when it comes to staying dry and when we get back to the south of Spain it’s removable as well as being easy to stow since it folds up so well. What doesn’t get stowed is the weightlessness of the Durable Water Repellent that the outer fabric is treated with. That’s always there and makes the kit extremely hydrophobic.
Pockets Abound
Getting certified to a AA CE rating isn’t easy, but Lindstrands have managed to do so. This is thanks to using SuperFabric on the shoulders and elbows. This adds reinforcement to the adjustable protection beneath them. it also allows them to work while adding comfort thanks to a set of clever stretch panels.
Keeping the cold out is a thermo lining in the form of an easy to take out vest. Take out both linings and open the vents, of which there are large ones on both the front and the rear of the jacket and let the cooling breeze provide the air-conditioning as you ride along.
In terms of supplementing safety the Myrvik is able to accommodate either an airbag, thanks to its expanding panels or a back protector and chest plate duo. Finally the collar is detachable and the long connection zipper attaches to any of the pants in the Lindstrands range. This adds an abundance of safety as well as comfort. Both are available from euro sizes 48 ton 62. The Myrvik punches well above its weight in terms of cost coming in at only €499.00. Talk to any of teh team at Kennedy motorcycles to arrange a fitting.
